GEO Group Inc. has secured a contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to reopen the North Lake Correctional Facility in Baldwin, Michigan. The facility, dedicated solely to ICE operations, is expected to generate over $70 million annually. GEO will provide essential services, including security, maintenance, medical care, and legal counsel. Originally opened in 2019 for low-security inmates facing deportation, the facility was shut down in 2022 after the government ended contracts with private prisons.
